Common Questions and General Information
Where are these areas located?
Area 14 is located just east of the main event area on Sand Hollow Rd. Area 14 is an existing campground with 19 standard sites, 6 power/water sites and 5 group sites located on a hard pack gravel surface. Each spot is clearly marked and labeled with existing signage. Each STANDARD spot in Area 14 is roughly 25' wide x 65' long and each GROUP spot in Area 14 is roughly 130' wide by 130' long and will accommodate up to 10 trailers depending on size. IF YOU PURCHASE A GROUP SITE WE WILL CONTACT YOU AFTER YOUR PURCHASE HAS BEEN COMPLETED TO VERIFY HOW MANY VEHICLES PASSES YOU NEED. This lot includes existing dumpsters, flush restrooms and showers.
How much are the camping passes?
Sandpit Campground camping passes range from $250 to $1200 per site. Area 14 STANDARD sites are $250 per spot. Area 14 POWER/WATER sites are $300 per spot. Area 14 GROUP sites are $1200 per spot
How many days are the camping passes good for?
Each pass is good for (5) five days and (4) four nights starting Wednesday October 21st and Ending Sunday October 25th.
How can I purchase camping passes?
Camping passes can be pre-purchased through our website by using the link on this page. If spots do not sell out prior to the event passes can be purchased at entry gate when you arrive.
Does my camping pass purchase include any wristbands?
No. Camping passes and wristbands are sold separately. We did this to keep the cost as cheap as possible and wanted to make sure each participant only have to purchase what they need.
How can I purchase wristbands?
You can pre-purchase wristbands through the website or purchase them at the gate for $50. We recommend purchasing them through the website to help reduce wait times at the gate.
Do I need wristbands to access my camping spot?
Yes, please be aware everyone in your vehicle will need wristbands to get through the entry gate to access your camping spot. Wristbands are $50 per person through the website and at the gate. Kids 12 and under are free.
When can I check in?
The event starts at 9:00am on Wednesday but you can check in starting Wednesday at 8:00am. Early check-in is available starting Tuesday at 2:00pm. If you would like early check-in please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to make sure your spot is available. There is a $25 charge per trailer for early check-in.
When do I need to check out?
All participants are asked to clean their sites and check-out by noon on Sunday October 25th.
Is there a charge for extra vehicles or trailers?
Each vehicle will need a camping pass to get through the gate. If you have additional vehicles no worries at all, simply purchase a $150 BEACH POD Camping pass for each extra vehicle. This pass allows that vehicle to camp anywhere in the event area including your campsite. Please note that at least one person must have a camping pass associated with the site you are staying in. VEHICLES MUST FIT WITHIN YOUR SITE, We do offer overflow parking if needed!
Will a dozer be available?
No dozer is required in this area. Area 14 is an existing campground with 28 sites located on hard pack gravel surface.
How do I access my camping spot?
Area 14 can be accessed from Sand Hollow Road, east of the rental shop. Access to the campground will be monitored by our security team, making sure both the road and entrance remain unobstructed during the event. Our security team at the gate will make sure all vehicles have the appropriate vehicle passes and/or camping reservations. If trailers trying to enter the sand are staged on the access road, campers staying in Sandpit Campground will be allowed to bypass the line of trailers with the help of our road crew.
Does my site have utilities?
Six of these sites will have water and power hook ups. While the other 23 sites are dry camping sites located in a gravel parking lot. We recommend filling your tanks in Hurricane or at the Westside campground located in the park. The Westside campground has 4 dump stations and a water filling station that can be used prior to accessing the event area. There are no dump locations for gray or black water in this campground. Gray water is not permitted to be dumped on the pavement or in the grass. If you need your tanks dumped during the event we will have a septic service company you can call for a small fee or you can head over to the Westside campground location just 1/2 mile away.
Are campfires allowed in this area?
Camp fires are allowed in the campground. Participants must use the fire rings supplied with each campsite. We ask participants not to throw cans, glass and garbage in the fire pits.
Are there dumpsters in this area?
Areas 14 is an existing campground and has multiple dumpsters located throughout the campground. We ask that all participants help keep the dunes and campground clean by using this dumpster during the event.
Are there restrooms/showers in this area?
Area 14 has existing flush restrooms and showers located in the center of the lot. The showers are coin operated and cleaned daily by our campground host.
Is there a campground host in this area?
Area 14 will have a full time Campground Host provided by Sand Hollow State Park. The campground host will monitor the campground at all times and check-in the campers as they arrive each day. The campground host will be camped near the center of the park next to the restrooms. Feel free to swing by and say hi, they are here to help and answer any questions you may have.
Do I need a permit to fly a drone?
Yes. Contact the Sand Hollow Park for the permit. $15 (5 day permit) Permits are required to fly drones within the state park. Violators are subject to citation.
